چکیده

Chironomids are one of the most biodiverse and abundant members freshwater ecosystems. They a food source for many organisms, including fish water mites. The accurate identification chironomids is essential applications in ecological research, determining which chironomid species present diets diverse predators. Larval adult from habitats, lakes, rivers, inland gardens, coastal vegetation, nearshore habitats Great Lakes, were collected 2012 to 2019. After morphological chironomids, DNA was extracted cytochrome oxidase I (COI) barcodes PCR amplified sequenced. Here we describe an analysis larval Lakes region North America based on new collections improve by curating barcode database, thereby expanding diversity taxonomic specificity reference libraries Chironomidae family. In addition reporting novel barcodes, demonstrate here use this COI database prey liquefied identifications ingested Lebertia davidcooki L. quinquemaculosa more include Parachironomus abortivus, Cryptochironomus ponderosus. tenuicaudatus, Glyptotendipes senilis, Dicrotendipes modestus, Chironomus riparius, entis/plumosus, maturus, crassicaudatus, Endochironomus subtendens, Cricotopus sylvestris, festivellus, Orthocladius obumbratus, Tanypus punctipennis, Rheotanytarsus exiguus gr., Paratanytarsus nr. bituberculatus.

An Asiatic Chironomid in Brazil: morphology, DNA barcode and bionomics

In most freshwater ecosystems, aquatic insects are dominant in terms of diversity; however, there is a disproportionately low number of records of alien species when compared to other freshwater organisms. The Chironomidae is one aquatic insect family that includes some examples of alien species around the world. During a study on aquatic insects in Amazonas state (Brazil), we collected specime...

Indigenous species barcode database improves the identification of zooplankton

Incompleteness and inaccuracy of DNA barcode databases is considered an important hindrance to the use of metabarcoding in biodiversity analysis of zooplankton at the species-level. Species barcoding by Sanger sequencing is inefficient for organisms with small body sizes, such as zooplankton. Here mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase I (COI) fragment barcodes from 910 freshwater zooplankton speci...

Identification of water content in nanocavities

: A tapered dielectric waveguide that scans, at constant height, a sample containing a viral capsid is studied by combining a lattice gas model to simulate water meniscus formation and a finite difference time domain algorithm for light propagation through the media involved. Our results show different contrasts related to different water contents and different meniscus orientations. We propose...

DDBASE2.0: updated domain database with improved identification of structural domains

MOTIVATION Although many methods are available for the identification of structural domains from protein three-dimensional structures, accurate definition of protein domains and the curation of such data for a large number of proteins are often possible only after manual intervention. The availability of domain definitions for protein structural entries is useful for the sequence analysis of al...
